Work from home stress? Try using this app!

With the world moving from a physical to remote working, we all have had our share of problems while adjusting to this new normal. We all faced the issues of extended work hours, improper infrastructure and WiFi etc. All these was pretty dauting and humanity came up with an additional layer of trauma in their lives called, “Work from Home Stress

While organizations across the world tried their best to help the employees cope up with this new class of stress, I believe this is something very personal. There are some generic ways for sure which include exercise and meditation but we all need a custom approach for busting this out. In this post, I am going to talk about a desktop application which helped me a lot in these testing times.

How I found this app?

So one fine day in the lockdown period, I closed my work laptop around 7:30 PM. Soon after, I get a meeting invite for 9:30 PM. I call up the sender and ask him what’s wrong, and to my surprise he says ghar par hi to hai (You are at home anyway). For the first time I actually had no come back. As if, some one has jammed the part of my brain that was supposed to come up with a logical answer.

While waiting for the meeting, I started looking for a good movie to watch from the archives of my old hard disk. This is where I found the hidden gem I am going to discuss. The Desktop Destroyer (link to download).

Let the fun begin:

This was a really fun app and I could now literally hammer, burn, and do whatever I want on the desktop of the very laptop that won’t just leave me alone. Time for a quick video demo of how the app works:

  • Imagine sharing your screen in a meeting and burning the excel file your boss just asked you to review. Badass right?
  • Or, simply hammering the image thumbnail of the most annoying person in the meeting.
  • If I were you, I would chainsaw the shit out of entire MS teams window.
  • Here’s me shooting the crap out of some incentive dashboard.
Work from home stress being reduced by shooting this file I hate
  • Or may be, dropping termites on this PDF that is eating me instead.

Conclusion

As I mentioned earlier, stress busting is highly personalized. I like to use technology to rescue myself. Who doesn’t like legal violence? And even if you get bored of this app pretty easily, it would be an amazing conversation kicker. I can totally see myself sharing this with my peers, who can have a small laugh in this otherwise gloomy world. Imagine how entertaining your next MS Teams/Zoom meeting can be. Go ahead and shoot that work from home stress! Or may be burn it! Whatever.

Until Next Time..!!
